EXCLUSIVE RELEASE: Jeanne Silverthorne Monograph

We’re proud to announce the release of Jeanne Silverthorne‘s first limited-edition monograph, on the occasion of her exhibition “From Darkness,” on view January 9th to February 10th, 2019. This comprehensive, fully illustrated, hard-cover catalogue assembles Silverthorne’s remarkable oeuvre for the first time, through 220 pages of more than 90 color illustrations that explore works and exhibitions over four decades.

Designed and edited by Ken Tan, Director of MARC STRAUS, the book design features a unique glow-in-the-dark cover where the page edges illuminate in the dark; and for the special edition, printed in invisible glow-in-the-dark ink within the pages is a second distinct set of content—written notes and drawings—executed entirely by the artist’s own hand.

Drawing on Silverthorne’s historic archive of transparencies and newly commissioned photographs by James Song, this catalogue focuses on the seminal 1994 Untitled (Chandelier), and the 2018 Frankenstein work, both of which comprise the exhibition, and further explores central tenets of her work, such as language and her studio environment. The catalogue also contains critical essays by Ken Tan, art historians and critics Glenn Adamson and Sue Canning. Also an interview with Saul Ostrow, critic and friend who has known the artist for more than thirty years.
