Special Event: Hermann Nitsch Organ Recital – Sept 10th 2017

MARC STRAUS is pleased to present a special organ recital by Viennese artist Hermann Nitsch, on Sunday, September 10th, 5pm.

Co-founder of the Viennese Actionism Movement and the creator of the Das Orgien Mysterien Theater, Hermann Nitsch is one of the most influential artists today having steadfastly devoted his many years to a singular, uncompromising vision. From the outset, Nitsch’s vision has been anchored in the Wagnerian ideal of a complete work of art, a Gesamtkunstwerk, which indissolubly combines painting, theater, drawing, music, print-making, philosophy and life itself. Music is one of the core pillars of Nitsch’s work, a sensory dimension that has its roots in the primal scream and in moments of excitation.

On the occasion of his second solo show at MARC STRAUS Gallery in New York, Nitsch will play a short set on one of his favorite instruments, the church organ. This will be the first time ever for the artist and New York.

Please join us and the artist on this special day. Nitsch will commence the recital at 5pm sharp on Sunday September 10th, 2017.

Admission is $18 at the door. All proceeds will be donated to the Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund. Seats are on a first-come, first-served basis.
